Windham & The Catskills
Things to Do
The Windham Guest Guide — curated for guests of Ascent 110. Good trails. Great tables. Snow days. Slow mornings.
Welcome to your Catskills escape. This is your invitation to get outside, eat well, and leave room for doing absolutely nothing. We've gathered memorable stops around Windham, Hensonville, Hunter, and the mountain top — so you can spend less time searching and more time enjoying your stay.
Snow Days
Chase the snow. First chair. Fresh air.
Make Windham your main ski or snowboard day. Public lift tickets are available online; reserve lessons and rentals ahead, especially for weekends and holidays. Some club facilities and experiences are members-only.
Lift tickets & planning →A strong alternative for another day on snow. Book tickets, lessons, and equipment through the resort. Check what your lesson includes before buying; lift access and rentals may be separate.
Tickets & lessons →For a lighter adventure: Windham’s public daytime tubing sessions. Reserve ahead and check operating dates and participant requirements. Each rider needs their own tube.

Choose your trail. A little walk. A bigger adventure.
Meadows, mountain views, and a covered bridge along the Batavia Kill. A lovely choice for a relaxed morning or a mixed-age group. Trail access: 4982 NY-23, Windham.
Trail details →Woodland trails for hiking and mountain biking. Pick a route that fits your group; download a map before you go and check DEC notices for current conditions.
Trails & alerts →From Peck Road, follow the Elm Ridge Trail to the Escarpment Trail and the summit. This is a full hiking outing: start early, carry water and layers, and turn around if conditions change.
Official route →Waterfalls
The iconic Catskills stop.
One of the tallest waterfalls in New York State. Make the viewing platform your first stop — the Laurel House Road approach is about 0.3 mile each way on a gravel trail with relatively little elevation change. The lower pools route is steeper and more demanding. Stay on marked trails, keep well away from cliff edges, and never climb around the falls.
Access & trail information →Use designated parking. Roadside parking is restricted; check DEC’s current access notices. Snow, ice, and wet rock can make this a very different outing.
Scenic Escapes
Less rushing. More looking.
A quieter choice: gardens, meadows, woodland paths, and boardwalks. Explore at your own pace and check the calendar for seasonal programs.
Garden visits & events →Bring a picnic and build a day around the lake and nearby Catskill Mountain House overlook. Choose longer trails only if your group is ready for uneven ground and exposed viewpoints. Swim only at designated beaches when permitted.
